Over N3b Expended On Death Gratuity, Pension From 2019 -Bujawa

The Executive Secretary Local Government Staff Pension Board Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Bujawa says all local government pensioners in Katsina State are regularly being paid monthly except those that have problems with their respective banks.

Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Bujawa revealed this  in an interview with  newsmen in Katsina.

Alhaji Mustapha Bujawa explained that all death gratuities and accrued Pension from 2019 - 2023 have already been settled.

He said the state government through the MLGCA had secured over Ten Billion Naira (N10b) for the settlement of gratuity and accrude pension for a period of Twelve Months 

The Executive Secretary claimed that over three Billion Naira (N3b) Death Gratuity and accrude pension from July 2019 - 2023 had already been settled.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and MLGCA under its Supervising Commissioner Hon. Bishir Tanimu Gambo for the concern shown on the plight of pensioners in the state.

Bujawa equally applauded the role being played by the management and other staff of the Board towards ensuring successes.

Similarly, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Comrade Nasiru Wada Mai'adua expressed appreciation to the Supervising Comissioner MLACA for the initiative.

Comrade Nasiru Mai'adua said the initiative of early payment of salaries and pension to Local Government and LEA staff serves as an incentive which will ginger them to become more productive.

On his part, the  Secretary of the State Council of Medical and Health Workers Union Comrade Sani Yusuf Saulawa said the immediate action taken of early payment of salaries to local government Health Workers and Primary School Teachers will enhance quality healthcare delivery at the grassroot.

Comrade Sani Saulawa also expressed concern over the non implementation of increment in pension for the retired Health Workers and urged the state government to take quick action on the issue.

In an interview, the Secretary of the state Screening Committee on Pension and Gratuity Hon. Muntari Ammani spoke extensively on the level of achievement so far recorded  regarding settling of the huge back log of accrued Pension and Gratuity from 2019-2023  by the state government.

The Secretary also revealed that a new innovation is being processed through a Consultant towards introducing modern ways of gathering data and all what not regarding pension issue in the state.
